I too have been a HO scale model railroader for 30 years, after12 years I finished my 3rd layout in 2024, highly detailed with lots of scratch building and kit bashing, notwithstanding installation of 22 electronic track switches, LED's , and signals. Subsequently I decided to try wooden boat modeling, you will find working in a larger scale with wood somewhat more forgiving than styrene & white metal RR kits, this SOS web site forum is great for beginners, the members are quite helpful and courteous to one another, unlike some of the MR web sites I used to go on.
