I've just joined this forum and am curious about the members here. I have built model ships most all of my life but my area of expertise is with plastic models. I built my first Revell Cutty Sark in the mid 1960s when I was in high school. Along the way I have built hundreds of model airplanes, cars, armor and ships. I have even built a very few wooden ship kits. I have no desire to build a wood ship model from scratch and if a plastic kit of a subject I am interested in is available and of good quality I'll never do it in wood as in the Cutty Sark. Unfortunately the type of sailing vessels I am most interested in, schooners, is not well represented in plastic so over the last few months I have bought a few wood kits and am in the process of learning some new skills. I hope that I will gain additional knowledge as a member of this forum as I have with another ship building forum.
