Hello from down under

I'm Tony, 68 years old. Lived in Pompey for 12 years until 1972. Now in Oz. Just received my Caldercraft Victory. It'll take the rest of my life to finish it, but I'll try!

G'day Isaac,

They're a friendly bunch here, and they know what they jaw about, so just ask questions and you'll be sure to get helpful answers. So many helpful answers you'll be spoiled for choice to decide which way is the way to go.

I suggest you get some bits of wood to use for practice before you cut into the 'real' timber and ruin it. Get your muscle ,memory for how to use a scalpel to shave off just a few thousandths of an inch, or practice cutting to finer tolerances against a line.

First off, grab a sharp pencil and practice marking out on some of that practice timber and cutting exactly to a line..

Mostly, enjoy. and get a good supply of tinnies in, you'll deserve at least one after every session.

Hi Isaac. Just jump right in and get your feet wet. Open the instructions and start with #1 and follow the instructions. The biggest problem I ever had with these ship models is the vocabulary. Have a dictionary handy and look up every word that your not sure of and pretty soon you'll have them all memorized. It's a lot of fun so you have to get started. Don't be afraid to post pictures of what your doing either. We love pictures.

Welcome Isaac. And congratulations on purchasing your first 1000 piece 3-D jigsaw puzzle. Victory is not assured, but certainly attainable.

Eddy, with regards to purchasing a ship model kit, I would recommend dry dock models or CAF models. Their website is on the vendor section of the forum. Good luck
