Hello —
My name is Merl. I live in Tucson, Arizona. I’ve been following this forum for some time now and it’s time I introduced myself. I’ve been tinkering all my life and since retirement, I’ve worked mostly on miniature wagons and sleighs. I’ve always wanted to build a model ship and finally have started it. I currently have two projects. The first is a Model Shipways Bluenose and the second is a Yuanqing Blue Nose. The second one will be built as a frame only — to go with the Model Shipways model. The ship building has been (and is still) a huge learning experience.
I chose the Bluenose because my wife’s grandparents were all from Nova Scotia and because someone in the family has a picture of my mother-in-law on the deck of the Bluenose. She appeared to be about 16 or 17 years old so that would mean the picture was probably taken around 1940 - 1941.
This forum has been a huge help in my ship building adventure.
