help with ships boats

does anyone know if english cutters carried a ships boat on board or was it always towed behind . working on a 1:48 scale ship and can't seem to find the answer anywhere
I guess, it depends on the size of the cutter, deck accommodations, and not the Country of origin. For example, Russain cutter Avos' caries lifeboat behind the transom.

As I know, the deck space was so limited, that they usually towed the ships boat behind

I am also not aware, that there is any contemporary model of an armed cutter with a ships boat on deck.

Scale: 1:48. A contemporary full hull model of the 'Trial' (1790), a 12-gun cutter, built and carved from a solid block of wood in the Georgian style. Model is partially decked, fully equipped and rigged.

And definitely "During Action" - the boat was in water behind the ship - often with the most important and valuable properties of the captain stowed in the boat

BTW: Maybe you tell us a little bit more about your actual project..... would be interesting also to see.....

thanks for the advice jimsky. yeah there is not a lot of spare space on a cutter's deck . the project i am working on is the mantua kit HMS Shine. i will post some pics of her after i work out some of the scale problems with the fittings sent with the kit ( sizes all over the map).

Being a self confessed passive but enthusiastic member of this forum for a few years now (for reasons private to me [please respect])
There are no rules, that I'm aware of, that reserve participation here to folk actively building a model.
Often I feel there's such a broad knowledge base here, technical, historical or artistic, where ones questions, views and opinions are valuable and valid contributions.
