Can someone please tell me in dealing in 1/48 scale what size bolt to use? The length is easy to measure but what size bolt head to use?
For more clear and detailed information, we would need more info, like time period, which kind of vessel, which Navy (french, british or other) and very much for which element the bolt of the construction was used.
When I remember correctly Jean Boudriot was writing in his book about the 74-gun ship, that there were more than 70 tons of bolts built in in such a vessel.

Here an excerpt of his book, shown already in the Book Review

Thanks Uwe
The Bonhomme Richard is the ship. I want to use bolts on the rudder and the keel.
