Can someone please tell me in dealing in 1/48 scale what size bolt to use? The length is easy to measure but what size bolt head to use?

When I remember correctly Jean Boudriot was writing in his book about the 74-gun ship, that there were more than 70 tons of bolts built in in such a vessel.
