HMS Druid 1776 stern cross section in scale 1/128 by Dubz Modelling World

Thank you very much Kurt, Christian, Roger, Peter & the likes :-) It appreciate i very much :-)

Upper deck done. I recognized too late that it is a bit to high on port side ... damn ...

However, it must also be said that the kit makes a lot of mess in this area. If you were to build it exactly to specification, the upper deck would end up in the windows. I have to improvise a lot and try to conceal it. It doesn't have that much to do with the Druid in this area :-D

Next will be the wales.

I love this build!

I suppose it wouldn't take much of an error in design to create a significant deviation at this scale...

Good morning Dirk. An example of micro mastery. Brilliant. Cheers Grant

Thank you again Paul, Grant and the likes. Very much appreciated :-)

It took a little while to check out how to do the next steps, but here we go :-)

I found some leftover ebony and used it to build the wales. The kit called for doubled strips in an ugly brown, but I didn't want that after all. The gaps are not perfect, ebony is quite tricky to bend but I think it fits ok.

I might put a few more planks on one side under the wale, but I still have to see how exactly :-)

I am not happy with the "decorations" on the transom, ugly wood, the lines are noch good. I have to check if there's a better solution.

Very inspiring work, Dirk. Thanks to your posts this model and the middle section are now much higher on my list of next builds. But that will take ’some time’. First completing my current build the next year(s).
Regards, Peter

A little update end of the year. I found out the whales are a bit to high, one more plank should have been there .. bit frustrated but will not change it ...

Did some more details :-)

Starboard got the sheer rail, port might get the timberheads shown and I did the channels (not part of the kit though .. wonder why ..) and some moulding strips :-)

Thanks so much Paul for your kind words. It always makes me very happy to read something like this and motivates me to become even better :)

The kit does not include a cap rail for the stern, which I don't really like. While testing how this could be realised, there was unfortunately a small accident: a clamp slipped off and destroyed the laser-cut decorations and a window. After letting it sink in for a few days, I got to work and realised the cap rail with a strip of pear. It wasn't easy with all the curves, but then there was a bit of wood putty and therefore a lot of black paint :-D A few simple moulding strips were also added to the stern.

And another small update. On the port side I have now worked out the timberheads, the idea behind this is to be able to show people who are not familiar with the subject that these are simply an extension of the frames (unfortunately the frames are no longer really square, but never mind :-))

So I have two sides to show different versions. On the starboard side I planked a little under the wales. There will probably be something in other places as well :-)

Nice additions, Dirk. For sure, related to the scale! I like the most the two different sides.
It’s climbing more and more on my ‘list of next build’.
