Hi making Endurance and noticed in the gallery a number of completed models one in particular caught my attention it's on page 16 built by Richard. On his model he has included spars on the top of the foremast and mizzenmast with lines running the length fore and aft what are these called and what are they used for. Any help would be appreciated

This model?

1st time modeler and my Endurance arrived yesterday
Welcome to the fray TSC
From the photos of the model it looks like a rather complex model for a first timer. FWIW if you get frustrated you may want to consider setting it aside and get a high quality kit designed for a beginner rather than giving up the hobby as many have done when overwhelmed. Hope it goes well though and wish you the best of luck. You have a full team here to help you if you ask.

Thanks Allan
I'm recognised with a fanatic attention to detail, I also airbrush portraits and currently steampunking a computer
If I have a nemesis it would be patience, and so along with my very passionate respect for the Shackleton story, I'm hoping to rein it in a bit

Think of the build as eighteen months castaway in the snow. ROTF
