That’s looking nice, Grant. And good to hear that your new knee feels good. It’s all that you gain confidence in it. That was also by my Admiral and last week by my skiing friend. He went down hard again as usual.Good afternoon on a beautiful summers day. Just got back from a surf with Ashtyn- man my new knee is fantastic. Very happy.
Update on my Frigate.
More planking above the wales. You will see some gaps for the frames to be exposed.

At the bow my planks are thinned to the same thickness and fitted nicely into the rabbet.
Enjoy the holidays.
Cheers Grant

Hi Grant, It’s coming along very nicely, I can see a lot of work has gone into this build and I think that there’s quite a bit more to come. You keep us entertained, thanks for your effort with the log. KenGood afternoon on a beautiful summers day. Just got back from a surf with Ashtyn- man my new knee is fantastic. Very happy.

Good evening Ken. It has been quite the adventure. For the life of me I don’t get it why I never just build a kitHi Grant, It’s coming along very nicely, I can see a lot of work has gone into this build and I think that there’s quite a bit more to come. . This kit is challenging enough for my skills …. I am having so much fun with not much beauty at the moment so hopefully I will get something sanded and finished soon. Thanks for stopping by and having a look. Cheers GrantBecause you are an 'enterpriser,' Grant. You can't create your world just building a kit...For the life of me I don’t get it why I never just build a kit![]()

You just got to love these POF-kits.Good afternoon everyone on the last day of 2025. It’s been a hectic but fruitful year and may 2026 bring all you guys plenty of joy.
I got tired of planking so decided to build the main cabin wall and doors. I used the kit parts here. The only real work was bevelling the panels. For some decoration I scraped some pattern into the dividing columns - definitely a little poetic license.

I still need to cut and include the glass in the windows.

We'll see when I get there.Hi Johan. Yep some of the parts are really nice. I’m enjoying this kit as there is not much precut or pre shaped planks so you still have to do the work. In saying that the carvings and fittings look really nice. You just got to love these POF-kits.
Hello Russ. Thank you. I also considered that. I thought about making more panels and replicating the fore panels but this became too much work vs the benefit. I could turn them around as they are dry fitted only but I will wait until the other one is made to decide.Grant, your frame and panels look fantastic! I want to try that on my 1:160 Enterprize mid section when I get around to it, however, I think the wood is just a wee bit thinner than yours. We'll see when I get there.
Keeping in mind that I don't know one way or the other, but your photo has me wondering, would they have put the more decorative beveled side of the panels facing the deck, or facing the inside of the Captain's quarters? There could be arguments for either way.
Happy New Year to you and yours!
