Good afternoon everyone on the last day of 2025. It’s been a hectic but fruitful year and may 2026 bring all you guys plenty of joy.

I got tired of planking so decided to build the main cabin wall and doors. I used the kit parts here. The only real work was bevelling the panels. For some decoration I scraped some pattern into the dividing columns - definitely a little poetic license.

I still need to cut and include the glass in the windows.

Happy New year.

A nice cabin wall, Grant. You can leave 2025 behind that wall. Wish you all the best for the New Year.
Regards, Peter

Absolutely stunning !

Hello Gentlemen. Apologies for the late reply - we have been having a fun time down here in Cape Town and I neglected to follow up with you all.
I guess in the case of the model, it would all depend on just how visible the wall surfaces in the cabin are, once everything is planked up. I seem to recall that you are leaving quite a bit of planking off, sooooo ;)
Hi Russ. When I started I decided that if I am going to spend time on any part of this ship it must be visible. So cut always, haphazard decking etc is the way. Whether it turns out cool or not we will have to see. We will see the wall so I will try it both ways once I progress to that stage and decide which way looks best. Thanks, I always appreciate your input into my attempts.
I love it, Grant. Happy New Year to too!
Good morning Daniel. Thank you very much indeed. May 2026 bring all of us plenty of modelling achievements and fun.
I seem to have dropped behind checking in on quite a few threads. However, yours never fails to impress when I catch up.

I was going to try to emulate your clever 2025/2026 image in the sand by writing in the snow but we had a warm period at +1c so it’s all gone ROTF. A very Happy New Year to you and your family Grant.
Good morning Roger. Thank you for the compliment and encouragement. Is that normal for the east coast to have no snow at the beginning of Jan? It would have looked “lekker” in the snow.
I love the raised panel effect, Grant. Well played. And best wishes to you and your gang this new year. Looking forward to seeing the wedding pictures!
Hi Paul. Thank you kindly. In a few days I give my daughter away to a young man who I like a whole lot. You know the feeling- I’m super proud. I will definitely send you guys some pics.

Thank you Peter. 2025 was a good one, knee and back issues aside. I’m looking forward to this year and hopefully we will all own it. May some more two wheel adventures await you and I.
Beautiful paneling work, my friend. Are you planning something special in good old Melkbosstrand for the New Year?
Thank you Heinrich I am bit late in my reply- apologies. We went to my mates house and had a braai (of courseROTF). It was good but I was the nominated driver……at least I didn’t have a hang over on the 1st. I made buddies with Balley - such a cool dog.

Thank you Maarten. I have a feeling that 2026 will be a really good year and I wish this on you and all my friends here on SOS.
