HMS Erebus de Ocre

Having finished placing the chocks so the hull is suspended in the air and can be seen from below, I proceeded to coat the hull with ice-skating wax. I cut a piece of film the length of the boat. At the cutwater and rudder, I placed a small piece of aluminum, tightly fitted to the contours. I cut the film lengthwise and placed each piece on the port side and the cork's stirrups, securing it with tacks so it wouldn't move when I put the hull in place. Once in position, I removed the tacks and lifted the film upwards. Since the wax was fresh, it adhered to the hull. I then proceeded to coat the polystyrene with a flat brush and place sections of toilet paper on top. Where there was more space between the cork and the hull, I inserted rolls soaked in diluted glue. This is how I shaped the sides, leaving a little of the paper above the ice line. When it was dry, I took the hull out, removed the film, and added the surface details, some small elevations and a little bit of polish. More. Some photos, greetings, and wood shavings.

Dear Crisjaca! To make the "ship stuck in ice" diorama authentic, you need:

The fact is that pack ice lifted ships upward, and to prevent the ship from capsizing, captains were ordered to carry out a number of measures to lower the ship's center of gravity.

1 Remove the topgallant masts and all their rigging, including the topgallant yard, running and standing rigging.
2. Remove all boats from the deck and overhead racks
3. Unload all supplies from the deck onto the ice. On the Terror, the upper deck was filled with barrels of provisions. During the first stop, they were to be rolled onto the ice into specially constructed igloos.

Dear friend, here are some real images of the Terror trapped in the ice during its first expedition for inspiration. I think they'd make good diorama ideas.

Iutar, thank you so much for all that information and for taking the trouble to search and share it; it's invaluable. I'll definitely take some of it into account, and if you don't mind, I'll share it in my Spanish forum thread. It's information that could be useful to the new builder. In several engravings, the absence of the mizzen top is clearly visible, and I think I'll consider adding the foremast lookout post. I will definitely make the iglús, and I'll put the extra barrels in the ice. Thanks again.
