HMS Sovereign of the Seas - Bashing DeAgostini Beyond Believable Boundaries

Hi Kurt,

As far as I know this drawing is in a private collection and not a museum. I don't expect high res pictures are available.
It has been auctioned a while ago, maybe the auction house has a higher res picture. Have to check who it was.

Do you know the fantastic book from Hendrik Busmann about the sculptures of the SotS. In this book are three attachments:
  • The Sovereign of the Seas by John Payne, 1637-1638
  • The Sovereign of the Seas by Peter Pett, around 1635
  • The Souvereign of the Seas by Willem van de Velde d.A.
The paintings from Payne and van den Velde are showing the port side and the Pett drain the starboard side. Perhaps is a scan of the attachments helpful.

I own a copy of Hendrik Busmann's book. Es ist ausgezeichnet. The attachments are pretty clear, but need to be a bit larger to allow you to see the details of specific decorations on the hull.

Hi Kurt,

Seems you can download high res here, don't know if it will be better than yoir current file.

After lots of polygon cleanup and remodeling, the Aeolus bone skeleton finally linked with the polygon mesh object without crashing Blender, and a few hours were spent repositioning the entire figure.

Now for the tricky part, laying the cloth robe over the figure. I'm going to try making a cloth object, and letting the physics of the Blender program drape the cloth over the body using gravity, and seeing if the folds of the cloth will look good enough.

Nice work!

High resolution resin printing.
I am printing a lot of stuff for models with SLA printer also, printed chimneys on my essex because the drawings offered just to use a wooden stick with no hole... Was wondering if there are high poli files for shipmodels because most of the cast metal ones ar just poorly made (occre) and I am bad with complex 3d modeling. But having this technology would really make some details stand out when you can print somethig like this:

If you want I can do test prints for you if you don't own a printer.
