Introduction

I am new to the group and to ship modeling. As a teen and again as a young adult, I built some plastic car models - mostly antique or older cars. It has been a long time since I built any model. I retired a few years ago, and have been looking for different things to occupy my time and attention. After a visit this fall to the Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut, I decided to wooden ship modeling. I ordered the Model Shipways introduction kits and built the first one (the Lowell Dory). During the build, I thought that I was making some bad mistakes, but continued to the end. In the meantime, re-ordered the Dory with the intent to build it again, hopefully better. Attached are some photos of my first build of the Lowell Dory.

Welcome aboard from Connecticut! Your Dory looks great! I think the 3 kit introduction is an excellent way to start.

I am not sure if they still do this but Model Expo would give you credit for the cost of you Dory for your next order if you sent them a picture of you holding your Dory.

Welcome to the forums ! I don't think your first build is bad at all.
Also, if you purchased your kit direct from Model Expo, if you send them a picture of your built Dory, they will send you a store credit for what it cost you.
