K63 HMS Picotee 1941 1/48 scale early short forecastle Flower Class Corvette

AA guns at stern

It was not uncommon for early flowers to carry ‘additional to specified’ extra AA guns usually at the stern as the gun shield in this pic. of HMS Heliotrope shows

However, it is hard to tell from the only photograph of HMS Picotee if she was carrying any AA guns back there. I can see something behind a rather burly looking sailor but not too sure it is a gun. If it is the barrel looks quite long.

Therefore, I might be wrong to be adding any, but I like the idea, so I made up a couple of shields and added a pair of Hotchkiss 1914’s which have long single barrels a bit like the pic. All guesswork I know but it adds a bit more interest.

As you can see I have also added the flagstaff and white ensign, again size is a guess but in the pic. it looks huge.

More later Cheers JJ..

what if it was a twin barrel mg? Under a certain angle it would look like a thicker single barrel.
Yea I thought that might be, then since it looks like the camera lens is just about square on at that point I reckoned it might also be the gun barrel on the starboard side. Anyway it don't matter as I only have the Hotchkiss mgs. 'fait accompli'

JJ..

Well that's the forecastle just about finished. Just rope reels and rigging to add now.

So much details to look at ……. and still adding more and more. Great job, Jack.
