Kingfisher 1770 1:48 POF [COMPLETED BUILD]

Mon ami, you just completed your model, and I can’t overstate how stunning she looks in her finished form! I’ve been eagerly anticipating this moment, but along with the excitement comes a bittersweet feeling. There’s a quiet fear that this beautiful conclusion might also mean the end of new progress and updates. Still, what a masterpiece to behold.

Thanks, Maarten.

The ship's lantern provided by the kit was a photo-etched affair that would not have worked on this model. Here is my attempt at a suitable replacement:

And then, with little fanfare, she crossed the finish line:

FINIS.
Hurray, hurray, hurray, with a beautiful lantern at the end. She is looking GREAT with her 2 different sides, Paul.

Thanks for this nice post, Jim. I have a bit of melancholy over the conclusion as well. But I hope to craft a unique display base so there will still be a few more pages to fill on this build report...

26 months for this project, Your speed is unbelievable. I loved to follow your log in the last years. Perhaps I have now more time to build on my Swan Class Sloop. But I am afraid that you will start shortly another real interesting project.
Thanks, Christian! I confess my interest has wandered in recent weeks, so she limped across the finish line a bit.

Six months ago I was certain of my next project, but my mixed success with wood carving now leaves me wondering. I'll take some time to do some research and see where that takes me. In the meantime I guess we will see your build surge forward :D.

Thanks, Peter. The geometry of the lantern (and its delicacy) was almost the death of me so there ended up being a few compromises. In the end it looks like an English ship's lantern even if I did miss the center of the target a bit.

The lantern is amazing ! Don't sell your accomplishment short! I'm sure you could do an entire thread just on the process of its construction !
