Kingfisher 1770 1:48 POF [COMPLETED BUILD]

Geez mate, she’s a little beauty worth having a decent Barbi (BBQ) a few cold ones (Beers) and celebrations like you Blxxdy Kiwis do when yor All Blacks kick the s??? outa our Waratahs or them Springboks
True story ROTF . Got to love them Aussies…

Good morning Paul. Jim said it all. The photos came out pretty cool and certainly show off your Kingfisher in a manner worthy of its marvellous build. The figure head really jumped out at me - kudos again on your first carving project. Hopefully the cigar and some wine on the patio to celebrate were especially rewarding……after the Admirals let you out the doghouse. Cheers Grant

What Jim said.
I got to see a lot of fine Admiralty and other fine models over my tenure as a volunteer model shipwright at the USNA museum.
Yours would fit right in! The carving and decorative details are exceptional. The icing on the cake! The presentation is perfect.
A privilege to be along for the ride. Okay First Place Metal:D

Pete
Thanks, Peter. I enjoyed the ride as well!

Thanks, Grant. I've managed to move from the doghouse to the frying pan, but the cigar and wine were still perfectly enjoyed .

I thoroughly enjoyed the final photos, a wonderful showcase for your work Paul. Hey, you may need to add a museum wing in your home to display your creations, Ha! by orders from the Admiral, all my creations except the Vasa have been confined to my office.
Thanks, Daniel. My office is my workspace so there is no room in here for model ship display. My Vasa is on a table in the entryway - you can almost see it in the background of the second photo taken in the last post. Perhaps when I get tired of this hobby these models can be moved into my office. I think that would actually look nice one day. In the meantime, I have to encroach on the 'rest of the house.'

Congratulations Paul..........OUTSTANDING!

I find it heart warming and encouraging that a relative newcomer to the hobby has the determination and tenacity to force themselves to overcome hurdles and learn the necessary skills to create such a wonderful model as this.

Your finished display reminds me very much of Roland Vlaholic's Pegasus , in both style and quality.

You may be unfamiliar with him, but he does this for a living and wins Gold medals at every Naviga contest he enters. You IMHO have reached that standard..

I know we have discussed a little while back a potential next project for yourself and I will keep it between us. I would mention though that I feel you are more than ready to tackle that project but do feel you need to build the whole ship.

I very much believe that if you chose something that doesn't present you with challenges along the way, you may find the experience a little underwhelming.

Every confidence in that you will succeed in whatever you choose to build next;)

I do foresee a vessel with coppering in the future for you Paul despite what you say, simply so you can overcome the challenges and prove to yourself you can do itROTFROTF

I just followed in silence. Many congratulations on this beautiful build model. It’s really a log full of details and determination.
A true gem this log. A master builder and a really nice guy who’s there for others as well.

Congrats!
Peter
Many thanks, Peter. These are very kind words, and I'm humbled to hear them from you.

I better stop reading my reviews or I'm going to start thinking my mom has been right about me all along: I'm a special human being ROTFROTFROTF.

In truth I am greatly flattered by your comments. You are among those master-builders on our forum who genuinely know and understand what we are building. From my perspective I am an apprentice trying to learn as fast as I can so my hopes don't so radically outpace my results that I bail on this hobby entirely.

I will certainly take your advice to heart. I just started looking at the materials I ordered last night. No decisions have been made though at first blush I'm not so sure that I have an even bigger project than the one I just completed "in" me right now. Let's see where it all leads...

Thanks for your encouragement, Nigel!
