Hello

Some couple of month passed since I last posted something. I've been busy with finishing rest of decorations of La Renommée.
Now I can finally show my results. Since this is a 3d-printable model it will take some time to test print and fit everything together.
The reason it took so much time is I needed also a compatible hull even for a stern section only. I made some prototypes for testing, but results weren't satisfying enough.
I had to really squise potential from Blender and made a loft of hull in one program without any other CAD software. It turns out with enough addons blender
has enough CAD-like functions to properly loft a hull.

Now I have a dilema wether should I make another 3d-print stern model or should I complete at least hull. I miss working with wood, but on other side is bringing back to life
beatiful ships existing only on drawings.

Lofting a hull is not enough now I needed to finish it somehow. I didn't want to have entire hull 3d printed-too long printing time and I have only resin printer.
I managed to design something in between, hybrid of sort. Lower body benteeth 1st deck is laser cut plywood, upper is 3d print with all the fancy curves of ship already established

Other dilema I have if I decide to go with the hull. Should I make La Renommée or her sister ship La Comete:D

Witaj
Piękne wydruki Wojtku .Pozdrawiam Mirek
Dzięki. Staram sie jak mogę
Cuda Wojtku, cuda...Ale nic Ci nie podpowiem, niech się znawcy tematu udzielą Ci rad.
Podpowiadaj. Każda rada się przyda
This is so impressive! To create the files to allow these to be printed as a single unit must be lots and lots of work! Wow!
Lots of test prints. That's why I divided stern on two halves. Can't wait to put them together:D

Cześć No i jak pomysły? Znalazłes rozwiazanie jaki kadłub itd? Bo coś nie widzę by chcizł ktoś coś mądrego Ci podpowiedzieć...

This is a difficult topic and a complicated model, Czesław. No one will propose a solution to Wojtek due to the fact that this type of model is innovative and requires a significant investment of both time and money.

Most amazing ! I have built a couple of wooden kits but the rest
of my models are plain Ole scratch built wooden ships.
I envy your work have no idea what 3D printing is all about
.and never will have, I ve no time left to learn such methods
as I am 93 years old , too old to teach myself new tricks , so to speak.
I wish you every success in your 21st century modeling
techniques as well as I do others , keep up the good work you are
doing . Looks like we are at a new era in shipmodeling.
Cheers Winova

Thank you for kind words. 3d print is only a support, model will still be made of wood. It's just more sophisticated alternative to POB kits.
I still enjoy working with wood; computer design is just one part of the process of making a ship model. I'm not just going to print the model in resin and paint it.
I may use some resin accessories, but 95% of it will still be wood.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm in the testing phase. Right now, I'm focusing more on making sure everything fits together properly with no gaps or mismatches.
I finished printing upper part of resin hull, next in line are inserts on bow and plywood decks. Unfortunetly not everything goes as planned - I needed to do some tweeking in laser as it wasn't able to cut through 6mm plywood, but now I'm waiting for new material as what I have isn't good enough

I also started testing 1/72 scale
