Dropper might be close enough, the term I have seen used is a drop plank. The opposite type of plank, one that gets added in near the stem or stern because the pattern is widening instead of narrowing, is called a stealer.

Thanks for the inquiry, still working up the funds for section 5 of La Renommee.....680.00 with shipping, in the meantime, my wife bought me Le Mirage by Corel last xmas, so I built that, and now Im doing a quick Mamoli Model of the HMS Hunter. Also some repairs to Britannia, which I built many years ago. Sadly you can see La Renommee in the background waiting for the next section

So...after a long hiatus, and 2 smaller models....back at La Renommee. Started Section 5, attached Frame supports for Gun Ports, started laying out deck beams for bow. Direction are a bit confusing, but it appears the deck beams should be laid and measured by section Bow-Mid-Stern to ensure measurements for mast supports and carlings are correct, and then fill in the rest of the beams.

Set 3 Gun Deck beams today, appears setting Beam 5A-3 first helps with correct measurements for the rest of the bow section beams.

Set Beams 5A4 and 5B1 today, Riding bits are not attached nor at correct height, just in place to ensure correct placement of Beam 1B, and to cut holes in floor of deck

Installed Beams 5B2 and 5B3 today, along with the Riding bits, and small capstan spindle. Also, new tool arrived!

Installed Beams 5C1-5C3 and 5D1, also built and installed the Fore Jeer Bits(directions confusing here, its actually to the right of center, not centered. The ANCRE book is a huge help on proper placement of pieces. Still not happy with some of my notches.......

Have installed All gun deck beams through 5H2, holding off on Stern in order to install steering gear first. So....2 issues I ran into, First this is the first deck(gun deck) where I found out all measurements from the hold and lower deck need to be spot on, or....adjustments were need to be made, had to deconstruct down to the hold to adjust the PUMP house and Pumps slightly(headache). Secondly, I missed in the instructions, and still am having a hard time finding it, that prior to setting the gun deck beams, the rails around the inside perimeter need to be notched .5mm before setting the beams. I was too far along here, so decided to live with it, Gun Deck will be .5mm higher, may be able to adjust forecastle and QTR deck to compensate. Next up are the Knees and Braces

I'm not suggesting you do this... but... you could remove the beams and notch the bottom side of them to set them down 0.5 mm. That will look the same as notching the deck clamps and would be easier to do than cutting into the clamps at this point.

And if you want to get really sexy those joints were probably dovetails (which could be simulated by angle cutting the ends of the beams). Or maybe that's what you have - its hard to see on the photos...
