OK people, I am going to make this the start of my own thread!! I didn't know you have to make your own thread and mistakenly I have been "Hijacking" other peoples threads. My bad, You can tell this is the first forum I have ever been on. I guess I have to try harder to learn the ropes!! I am posting below the first photos of my build. There are several so I'm catching up here. Tonight I applied my first coat of Boiled Linseed Oil on my hull on the outside and the inside before I add any other parts so I can cleanly reach all planking. Smells funny but looks really good!

This was basically my unboxing and early keel and bulkhead construction.

This was the second layer of planking. I did vary the plank lengths from the first layer so no butt joints would match up and make a weak point in the hull. Had a lot of filling to do with this second layer. My own fault for not slowing the work down. I get a little anxious to see things done!!

making progress on the final layer of planking. I got good input for my next build about making the length of the planks more to the scale I was building it. I also had never done a rabbet. Now I have read up and know what I have to do the next time. I figured out if you don't do it before planking your can't go back and redo it. Oops!! Still learning. I am getting the fit of the planks much closer and not leaving a lot of gaps to deal with.

This is the final layer all in. Time to sand and finish the planks so I can begin applying the linseed oil before going on to the next steps. It is really easy to say, I'm going to sand the inside and outside of the hull. About 10 pounds of dust later I think I've got the finish down to a really soft feel. Started with 120 grit and worked my way up finishing with 800 and 1500 grit. I did not sand the inside planks below the floor line as they will be covered in the final parts of the floor assembly.

OK, this catches you all up to my work as of this evening (9-12-25 at 1:30AM) I have the first coat of linseed oil on. Waiting for 20 minutes to do a light wipe over it and then it has to dry for 24 hours. I'm thinking I will be putting 3 layers of linseed oil on the hull before I go on to the next steps. I'm going to check and see if the flooring elements are also to be finished with linseed oil. I may go ahead at the same time and do those as well so they will look good when installed.

Thank you for the links! I especially liked the one with all of the photos of the armed launch. I can use those for reference while continuing with my build! I enjoyed the Rope Nagoya ship builders club site. Have to figure out how to add an automatic translator.
