There’s still a bit of tidying up required on the lines on cleats, but I think that’s about it.

The halyards were a little difficult as there was a block that had to be seized onto the end of the line. This could only be done on the model so I had to stack some books up as a makeshift work surface to get the job done.

The flag material is very fine and started fraying as soon as I took it out of the cellophane packaging. I painted them with a mixture of PVA and water and before trimming off the excess. I added a small bolt rope with two eyes so they can be hoisted as on the real thing. I used toggles to attach the line to the flags. I’m not sure they would have been used in practice - probably a bowline would have sufficed - but I think they will look quite good.

The rest of the family is taking a bit of interest in Le Coureur and the discussion is turning to where she might be housed when she is finished. Although she’s quite long and high (950 x 650 mm), she’s relatively narrow (200 mm) so she could be safely displayed on a shelf or hall table.

Kind regards

Salty
Good morning Salty. She certainly deserve a lovely resting place. ( ROTF sounds like she passed away). Definitely worth displaying with pride. Cheers Grant
