I have just completed a build on the Halcon (1:60) an during the build, I have learnt a lot especially from my mistakes. I understand that there never really was a ship called the Halcon based in Boston, so some leaway was allowed in the build. I took some leaway. but having completed this Build (as far as I decided to go) and although there is always more that should be done, I have given it to my Grandson ( perhaps he will do the last finishing touches)

I purchased a superceded kit for Le Hussard and for some strange reason decided to give it a go (Double planking) & I will provide a log of the build. Any advice would be welcome. So far I have generally found my info on UTube and Modeling sites and yes that has helkped. The Halcon which was a Artesania Kit had a DVD with good instruction so things were done in the right order. The Le Hussard is an older Artesania kit and I will miss the being no DVD, There is full sized plans an d the other instructions are on the BOX the kit came in. I see some info is provided in other posts but I do have most of the info (although some is in Spanish)

Well we will proceed and I will keep you advised of where I am at and I say again any advice is welcome. For instance when should I attach the deck, keel etc

I was never very good at planking, I have seen others tak a mathamatical method ad measure the plank positions, I Do not seem to have the patience to do that so I do it by eye & hope for the Best

Being from Australia, I started this hobby with cheap ships from China, ( they were very cheap and quite good and although the Chinese instuctions were not much help, there was plenty of other information on the web, A russian site was very good and although I do not speak russian, the videos were top grade. I posted my efford on UTube for what it was worth.
this is what got me interested in building wooden ships

I have seen some ships with figures ofd sailors and felt it added to the model. saw some figures on an american site that I thought wpould meet the bill, I ordered the figures & immediately cancelled the order. the attached will illustrate why ( remembrer it is US$). Can anyone advise a cost viable option

Well work continues, Sanding the hull is something that I hate, Normally I paint the hull and that cov0vers a multitude of sins but this time with double planking, I am looking fo a good hull finish

I also managed to find some figures at a Reasonable price but they do have to be painted. will post foto later
