Gosh you are brave ! I always fit the bowsprit as late as possible as i am afraid of accidentally snapping it off !Took your advice, Gloss on the botom & satin on top, gloss on the deck, looks better but some tiding up needed

I suppose you mean the rope barrel in front of the ships wheel, I now realize that I should have moved the barrel behind the front wheel support but the kit actually made no provision for the connection of the ships wheel to the rudder and what you see was my modification. I agree the barrel should be behind the wheel suports. (I think it is too late to change)The Hussard may be different but the barrel seems to be hanging in the air on the forward end. Do the instructions show the forward support legs?
