Midwest Fireboat

Great job on the Fire Boat. Although I use several different types of materials in my construction I am very impressed with your ideas and changes you made for the future kits. I would think this boat should function quite well when built as you have for RC. It's fun to compare old style of Fire Tugs to new. Here is a model I built a few years ago of the City Of Baltimore newest Fire Tug " John R. Frazier". It too is completely operational with diesel engine sound module.

Thanks, I originally built a static model for the ship yard that produced the prototype for the city of Baltimore. I was so impressed with the model that I asked their permission to build an RC model for myself. As a matter of interest, all fire monitors are powered by two 12 volt windshield washer pumps supplied by a sea cock in the bottom of the hull.

It’s fantastic to know that we can all learn so much from your modeling experience and craftsmanship!
You’re an outstanding modeler, and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if you have even more incredible builds tucked away in your photo files.
Thank you so much for sharing this information with us — it’s truly inspiring and a real pleasure to see.
Absolutely impressive work!

My Fireboat was commissioned by Model Expo. They hold the license to reproduce all of the Midwest models, and they have already brought quite a few of them back into production.
All I did to the model was enhance its appearance and overall attractiveness, keeping it as simple as possible for new modelers. That said, this little model can certainly be taken much further, with many additional details that can make it even more beautiful.

Once again I am very impressed with the recommendations you made to Midwest for the final production run on that particular model. Also I believe it will encourage new modellers to take it on as a first project, and even as an introduction to RC. After all, who doesn't like a brightly coloured tug ? whether it is for static display or something you can take to the pond and play with.
