Model Shipways USS Niagara 1/64

Moving on, I did get the water line installed. Could you imagine if the pieces actually matched up to the bulkheads? Well, me neither.

Wrong way here again. I thought it might be easier to install the side pieces to the bulkheads, then mount the rail on a larger surface.
Looks like I went too wide for my boards. Just a couple mm off.
I only found this out after fretting about the gun ports.
Lesson learned: the schematic call out the correct thickness of the planks. But you do have to measure the width. Looks to be that the schematic is drawn to size. PXL_20211120_013343200.jpgPXL_20211121_172419634.jpg

Here we go again. Rails are on. Gun ports and sweep ports are framed up.
Maybe but the time this build is over, I'll be a jig master. Small but simple jigs to keep me squared and true...

Working on the Stern tonight. The mooring line chock had me stalled out for a while. No laser cut pieces. No instructions as how to make it. Well not too bad for this rookie.

This is my second build. The first was the Polaris. Hopefully this build will go smoothly. As I look into the blueprint, and the directions, I do believe it's going to be quite the learning experience.
Hallo @Robert Sandefur
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Birthday-Cake
How is your work on the USS Niagara going? Maybe you show us some update of your work

Still creeping along.
Lots of different clamps needed as I get close to closing us the hull.

I decided to just keep long planks, since it will be painted.
I can't wait to get to the deck.
May the wind be at your backside this morning folks.

1000017101.jpgwell the hull is planked. Now to the decking.
I'm taking extra care for the first plank to be perfectly straight.
For some reason I seem to be about 30 planks short. I have checked over and over to make sure it's the right size.
I'm cheating and just going to strip over the planks instead of nibbing the strake.
It's my second boat, so go easy.
