Thanks for the question & the answer! I have been planing to build a scratch awl, and I may still build one someday, but in the meantime I will buy these Micro Shapers. The appear to be quite versatile. Thanks for posting.

I took a look around to see how small you can get router molding bits
then I wondered if a good high carbon steel is available where you can file a shape then heat up the pieces and quench it to harden it.
