Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack by Don Ricardo - Build log

Diagnosed with bone marrow cancer.
Bah, humbug!
The Lord is my shepherd!
Now on to the Smack, then the Gunboat!
Sorry to hear that. I know modern medicine has made tremendous progress in the treatment of multiple types of cancer including bone marrow. I will be including you in my prayers.

Rob

Ok, I think I'll give my Smack red sails. JUST TO BE DIFFERENT.
Do you paint them, use rit food coloring, what is the best way to accomplish this?
Would acrylic paint interfere with the PVAz the sails were covered with.

Ok, got some Rit food dye, sort of a cranberry red. As soon as the Captain leaves on errands. I WILL invade her domain (the kitchen) and dye the sails.

Waiting for delivery of 1mm and 1.5 mm eyelets. They are available not under ship sales, but under doll clothes sellers.

Grommets will be here April 29. With the tools to install them.

Pleasant surprise, grommets will be here tomorrow...OK!
Now down to Hobby Lobby for some Rit food coloring for the sails.

The Captain had already said any dyeing MUST be done in
the cellar or outdoors. {I don't think she trusts me}
I will dye the sails cranberry red, aka "Red Sails in the Sunset".
It's my boat, most go with white' tea or gray and I want to be different.
My captain says, " Oh boy, are you different".
Sometimes the best way to deal with the Captain it just to say, "Yes Sir!" Then wait till she goes shopping.
That usually works unless you spill something, then it's to the gallows!

I think that for models this small, it is better, and easier to draw the seam lines of the sail instead of gluing strips of the sail material on for the seaams and is much neater.

Comcast has dropped email service, having trouble downloading pics now, on Gmail.com. Lost all Comcast files too.
