Hi all, I joined the group because my brother-in-law, who was an avid ship builder and model collector, died suddenly and left a collection of hundreds of unopened ship models, modeling tools (many new and unused), and other various items (materials, miniatures, etc.) for this craft that need to be disposed of. I am helping my sister-in-law clean her house/garage of these items and I am looking for help monetizing this collection for her. That help could be in the form of someone buying the entire lot of items or someone consigning to sell these on her behalf. I would do it myself, but I am not knowledgeable on what she has, and do not have the time to list each item separately because I am moving out of state shortly. The items are in Suffolk County Long Island New York. Any suggestions on how to proceed or help in selling these items is appreciated. Unfortunately I do not have an inventory, but i could provide pictures to show the magnitude of the collection.

Thanks to all

The rifle you won't be able to sell on here. I would direct you to Gunbroker.com and work with a local (to you) firearms dealer to ship it to a dealer close to the person that it is getting sold to. That way it's all legal.

That’s not a collection it’s a hobby shop! I can offer you no guidance on the kits but if the Unimat lathe is in good shape, it should be worth some $$$. That model hasn’t been made for many years. Plug it in and run it. With the lathe shut off try to make sure that the headstock bearings are OK, no wiggle in the headstock. Sell it separately.

contact the long island club here...

im sure they will help you.

also keep an eye on this thread about clubs...

btw there is a for sale section on this forum. perhaps you can list the stuff for sale once you get estimates on their going prices.

Very sorry about your brother.

Hopefully one of the local solutions will help, selling things one at a time and shipping is a pain and expensive for everyone unless someone has to have it. Maybe sell hand tools by lots? I would gladly pick through this stash and buy several things but I'm in San Diego. I agree on the Unimat, a deal is one thing, but it's valuable if it works.

Best of luck.
