Yes, I have used painters tape before. When various clamps do not fit or slip off I often resort to the blue painters tape wrapped around and over itself. Pulled from whatever angle to snug the part.

i also use sandpaper on my clamps it has saved me a lot of time and i keep my hair, nothing like returning to the build to find a few clamps slipped off. the sandpaper always hold for me.The sounds like a quick easy thing to try. Thanks for that suggestion.
I find that the small tubes of ca are great and cheap. Small applicator is precise and if they clog just throw away. Think 1 paid $8 for 12Awesome, more tools to buy.Still waiting on a set of clamps I ordered a week or so ago... My gorilla CA glue has welded itself inside the cap for the 3rd time. Really annoyed with that setup. I've wasted way too much glue. They need a metal applicator tip like the one that came with my Revell Apollo rocket build. Beautiful applicator setup, long thin metal tube that let the glue out 1 drop at a time in pinpoint accuracy. Unfortunately that glue works well for plastic models not so much with wood. Though it is awesome for stiffening ropes and dropping onto rigging knots.
