If you Iike to buy a book in the US you have the same problem. The shipping costs are horrible. For me it does not make sense to buy a book in the US.

Shipping in Europe 37Euro. Not so bad
These books are a bit heavy, so they're also expensive. Unfortunately, shipping costs are high. It's similar the other way around, from America to Europe. I wanted to buy two books from the publisher SeaWatchBooks, and I was informed that the shipping cost for two books would be $120–140 USD — not including the tax, since the goods are ordered from outside the European Union.

Hi Christian.
In the past I was also interested to buy some books from a forum member in the US. Shipping costs were indeed horrible, so I decided not to proceed.
But in the meantime I have bought several books from the US, but all from book shops that are affiliated with Alibris. The books are then gathered in an international shipping center (Hackensack NJ I believe). From there they are shipped in bulk. Shipping costs about € 10. For 1 shipment I got an email with the request if I wanted to pay extra costs (€ 4), but that was only because it was a very heavy book (still under € 14 shipping costs in total). Another is underway now, shipping costs again less than € 10. Shipping can take a couple of weeks.
So it might be worth checking with Alibris if you are looking for a book that is likely more available in the US but not over here.
If only SeaWatchBooks would also ship via Alibris
, that would be nice (my Admiral might have an other opinion).
Mine has arrived too yesterday, heavy (shipping label stated 9,5 kos).

Amazon has these in stock. $213 including local (MN) sales tax. Expensive , but shipping is free.

I understand that nothing, including shipping, is free. More accurately, Amazon includes the cost of shipping in it’s sales price.
In my case, I’m willing to pay the extra price to deal with someone that I regularly buy from.
