I’m retired. 29 years in the army and 20 as a government contractor. 78 and very new to wooden ship modelling. Hands and eyes don’t work like they used to. I built plastic models many years ago and also did a lot of woodworking and cabinet building as hobbies. Lots of knowledge transfer to wooden ships. My first build was the Oc-Cre yacht endeavor. Learned a lot. Almost finished with Pavel Nikitin’s Oseberg longship (1/32). I’m about halfway through the Santa Maria boat. Next planned builds are the CSS Alabama and the Amati Xebec.
I’m a visual learner and found the U-tube videos to be invaluable for all 3 builds. However, I’m striking out on the CSS Alabama. It’s a model shipways kit (Mamoli repackaging) and the instructions are not great. I will post a separate request for that one. Excited to be in the forum.
