OCCRE 1/87 SCALE LIMITED EDITION HMS VICTORY MODEL KIT PR001

Hi All,
Well it has been a while but my victory is making some progress. I have just finished planking the hull and finished the outside sanding. I have the insides to do now before I can start cutting and fitting all the gun ports and openings. I have also put a shout out in another topic about rigging thread as I am not happy to use the supplied thread by Occre. They only supply 5 sizes of thread for the whole kit and I think the kit would significantly benefit from having more accurately scaled rigging so I am guessing i will be swapping out a number of blocks too. I have decided to go to Ropes of Scale to supply replacement ropes and Ben D has been amazing with his help so far. I just need to work out what's' what.

I collect the sanded dust shown in the pot which I will use to make filler which I will use once the all the ports are fitted and sanded it makes an ideal filler colour wise and hopefully I wont need much of it. As yet the hull is just sanded and not filled.

Anyhow some pictures of the hull thus far.

Hello Everyone,
This is my first ever attempt at a Build Log, so please help and advise on what I should be posting.
This is the initial unboxing of the kit by Occre I received it last year and unfortunately there had been an accident by the international shippers between Occre and the UK outlet I purchased the kit from, I had pre-ordered the kit and found the kit had suffered a big enough shock to damage the wooden box break the plastic outer layer and spill most of the contents of one of the plastic containers, on notifying the UK supplier they discover more damaged kits. Occre were and are brilliant and as far as inventory goes I believe I have everything.

So here goes some pictures of the bits and pieces.

My Next task will be to find sort and label all the timber and pre cut parts.

My First Impression is that this will hopefully be a stunning naked kit as I don't think it is intended to be painted. There are many formers and gauges supplied with the kit to assist in the highest possible build accuracy this is novel as I have had not had this in any previous kit.

Thanks and regards Kenny

I am still astonished by the quality of the other modelers, well done to all (and perhaps to all... - I am thinking of them in the feminine...)

It's looking great! I just picked this one up myself and will be following your build logs for pointers along the way.

Are you moving ahead with your project.
I was behind you on my build but have since moved much further along.

Hi Humble Ship builder, Wow your build is looking great, yes I am moving ahead with the build but have had and have a few domestic jobs to do to the house and been very busy with my other passion playing sax and had lots of music to sort out. So time has slowed to the odd hour hear and there which is very frustrating. I have also purchased a rope making machine specifically for this build and working on my own rigging layout based on the historic books I have also purchased. I am considering adding some below deck lighting but not had sufficient time or opportunity to work on the model as much as I would have liked. My aim is to get this model as authentic as possible the time it takes is less important I told Lynne my wife it will take me 5 years and I have just lost 6 months due to other stuff getting in the way. Still the house looks better for it.
Kenny
