Yes, you are very correct there. Once I realized the problem and there was no way of correcting it easily like building the two little cabins a little smaller. But by doing this it would have thrown the whole thing out of whack, so it had to be fixed, darn it, ENJOY. Regards Lawrence

I thank you very much for all of your visits to my build log. Also for your very kind words and nice comments, also for all of your support in the correction of my little boo-boo.
Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have compliantly striped out the Lower Platform along with the Magazine. We have built and lowered the Lower Platform and had to rebuild most of the forward Magazine bulkhead, as due to our lowering the platform I could not add to this bulkhead and make it look ok. This also meant that we had to rebuild all of the doors again as the old ones were just too
short.
So with this, all said we are back to last Saturday AM when we discovered that our Lower Platform was just too short to have room to build the cabins and the stairway on this lower deck.
Now we can start looking ahead again and move forward in our build of the little ship the Oliver Cromwell, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have built and installed the hinges along with there lift rings for the Fish Room or should I say the Liquor Room. We have also built and installed the two cabins on the starboard side the Captains Store Room along with the smaller Marines Room. Those two on the Port side the Stewards Room along with the Slops Room we will only outline these two cabins as they would obstruct ones view when the ship's ribs are cut for the up and coming cut-outs. ENJOY

bulkhead to enable viewing once the cuts outs are applied. We have also added 12 gunpowder barrows to the Magazine. We would like to add a little fellow here working. We have also added the overhead beams to finish of the lower platform area. Now we can move forward to the Well and Shot Locker that is much larger and looks like a lot of fun to build, ENJOY.

I have never tried carving before but do intend to give it a good try. If all else fails then I could always use those 3D figures that were supplied to me by Dave at the Lumberyard. You could always get in touch with Janos here on the SOS Form, he will hand carve a Figurehead for you for around $100. USD, he does a great job of carving, just check out his build log. So really the carving part is such a small part of this kind of a ship build. Hope to see you start a build log soon here on the SOS Form, ENJOY.

as you do, i want to make all the materials of by self-produced timber, but then i need the drawings.
1- Did You got all the drawings as PDF.
2- Could you choose scale / size.
3- Did the sponsor has set a given period to complete the model.
4- Did You paid for the drawings or maybe you donated some money to SOS.
I'm still in the starting phase with HMS Blandford cross section 1-32 and want to finish it first,
but I was hoping to get drawings so I could plan timber and so on.
So still just a dream.

Zoltan, It is The Lumberyard sponsorship program I'm talking about, they supply many fine complete kits with laser cut parts /drawings.
This is something I really want to try when I am finish with the HMS Blandford cross section 1-32.
i want to make all the materials of self-produced timber

That is as soon as we figure out just how we will cut those slots to hold the Loovers themselves and for the moment that is still very much up in the air so to speak, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have managed to put in a few hours deciding just how to cur those Louvers for the Upper Well. We have decided to build a little jig consisting of a slot for my Byrnes miter and with a little riding fence and a slot for my slicing saw blade .028” thick. This I found to be a very tricky operation as one must cut upside down and seaming backward, but it does work. We have put together the back and one end to show you that it doses. We have left these pieces a bit oversize to allow for fitting at a later stage, ENJOY.

Thank you very much for your very nice words and overly nice comments. Yes, we are rather pleased with the Lattatis work on the Upper Well, it did come out rather well. However, we can not compare to your great carvings that we do intend to tackle some time later in the fall. I do want to give it a try just for the fun of it. Who knows you may get that figurehead order yet for my Oliver Cromwell, ENJOY.

Talking about Oliver Cromwell figurehead... I just managed to send mine into the 4th dimension. As I transported the ship last time to take a few pictures it must have fallen off and despite intensive searches we could not locate it. I have a sneaking suspicion that my workshop assistant had something to do with this disappearanceas he has the habit to catch things which fall down onto the floor (socks, napkins and the like) and usually chews them a bit...
So I am in for a new figure head soon...

We have completed building the Upper and Lower Well, we still have to add the hinges to the Shot Locker as yet but have decided to wait until the upper Beams are installed first for the final fitting before doing so. I am very sorry to hear of your mishave, but I have heard of this kind of thing happing to other model ship builders before. If by chance you do carve another and then find the old original Figure Head in some dark hidden corner, then I know of a fine home for the orphan Figure Head. This is very wishful thinking on my behalf, but truly I do hope that you find it before you have to spend many more hours making a replacement, ENJOY.
