Decided that it would be best to keep building up the sides before attempting the paper mache it so that took some wind out of my sails as now I have to address my previous calculation failures.

In templating out the last bit to build up the lack of thought of the deck layout once again comes to bite me. I had planned for the deck that is seen triming up to the edge of the paper templates here to be the one that holds the cannons. I had failed to take into account that these were at different levels. The easy answer would probably be to make it taller and just add another deck.... But then I'd have to make a giant egg as the one I have isn't tall enough.
Which is go say, yes I'm planning on cutting down the back as well. As this would mean that is too tall as well.
With hot glue proving to reject revisions, and my wrist proving to lack gumption, I may need to make a custom egg anyways. My strive for getting close to the source material has me questioning if making an egg can even be wide enough with the allotted deck space.

Some of the lines don't match up but eh it'll work out lol

Can't get a large enough pieces of cardboard for the decorative rail so we will see how it sections go and how I can make the edges disappear

Had the day off so working on the ship :) parents boat is in the water and I made it through birthday craft projects.

Today we continue work on the helm where the ships wheel will be. Added stairs. Each step is a pain due to the custom cut and custom fit for each.

Will continue cutting and placing steps today

Also over last weekend due to the slow process of the builders a SuPurrVisor was hired. She may or may not be improving production speed. Meet Echo!

I’m allergic to long-haired cats, but Echo doesn’t look like she'd accept that or any other excuses for not meeting production deadlines. Better keep at it!

Your stairs look wonderful!
My fiance is also allergic but she choose him so we are trying what we can to make his life work so he can keep her. We have an air purifier, he's taking allergy meds, she's eating a special diet that should help too.

The stars are a pain but coming together. I think I might assemble the next set bottom up so that each span can slot under the one above it.

Wow 20 logs, I appreciate the commitment to the craft. I have a tendency to start big projects but never see them through. I think all the kind words here have contributed to me coming back. That and it takes up way too much space in the house lol

Having an eventful weekend I opted for working on staircases which once measured can be assembled elsewhere.

I got the curved staircases around the egg cut but without the egg to set the curve I opted for later assembly.

Working from bottom to top was much more effective for measuring. My audiobook got me through the repetitive work.

Those steps turned out very nice .
There are many of us that have issues with repetitive work, such as making the 106 half frames for the ship I'm currently working on. :) or installing over 5000 copper plates on the bottom of a hull or making and installing 30,000 trennels I believe it was. (the last 2 were not something I did). We fully understand. Sometimes it helps to take a break from the repetitive stuff and work a little on something else. You are doing a great job !

I have a small selection of wood I'm going to use for planking the main decks to add some top down appeal. There was an article I read once that said if you mix some fake plants in with some real plants, it makes it harder to spot the fake ones. Hope this applies to the fake wood for the hull. Not excited for that repetitive task haha

Another set of staircases done. No wine for this one lol granted that wine glass is usually filled with orange juice or whisky
