Other hobbies that are not ship model building

Cycled this afternoon between my Bluenose and Balder drawings over the Col du Galibier (2646):

For the insiders: It's with my bike on a Tacx Neo2 with magnet friction. So it's reacting on the climbing gradients and that is why you have to switch gears all the time. The climb starts 4 km outside Valloire and is 19,9km. Did it in 2:01:17 with an average of 165watt overal. Not bad for a 66 year model builder. ;)
I cycled the Galibier 1986 in real:

The youngster on the left. :) The last 3km between snow wall of 2,5 meter. They had made and opened the passage for the first time that spring a day earlier.
Then also in 2 hours. Not much decline in 37 years. :D (In terms of performance, not in terms of appearance)ROTF
Regards, Peter

Bonjour,
J'ai deux autres passions le vol en paramoteur (parapente motorisé)
et la photo aérienne ! Ci joint un vol proche du Vercors dimanche dernier !
Bien à Vous, Dom
A nice picture, Dom.
A deja-vu to the flights I have done with the (basic) parapente for several years in the French Alps and other countries.
Regards, Peter

The weather outside was rather wet, not very inviting. Good to have a home trainer, enabling you to exercise.
The degrading of your performance is well within limits. Thumbsup

One of my hobbies is collecting antique maps. My interests are maps from the Dutch Golden Age - 1600s to early 1700s. At one point, I had over 30 maps, but because of limited space and the need to find room for other "stuff", including models, I now only have about 6 or so. Some examples: a 1634 map of North America (the first in a Dutch atlas to show California as an island), a world map of 1720, a Dutch maritime sea chart of 1588 (rare, since many sea charts were lost or ruined at sea), and a 1611 map of the west coast of Ireland. I don't collect much anymore, but for years this was my major interest.

Two kilos of grapes transformed into delicious jam.
But while I'm good at many things, for some reason this isn't working out so well. The taste is good, but it remains too runny. So any tips are welcome.
The First Mate says to put it all together and reboil it . Until it thickins up some more, she use a plate from the in the frezzer, j after it boils a bit put a teaspoon on the plate tip side ways if it runs it is not ready. Or just use it as pancake syrup .

Yeah, I googled. And it is just keep bowling or ad more sugar and lemon. Tomorrow I rebuilding it and try again. Thanks.

Nice hobby to restore originals, I do some woodworking and they have several plans for these kind of boxes for easy starter projects, but they don't have nice fancy interior and accessories.

I have recently given up the guitar and making wooden ship models. However, I still have hobbies. I study; mainly literature and history. I’ve just begun to write short stories. I cook marvellous meals. And from time to time, I build a model in plastic. I spend a lot of time playing with and exercising my dog, but that’s not really a hobby. If owning a dog is an hobby then so is raising children. (Dogs are more fun than raising children though.)

Hi followers, I have a passion (addiction) for writing slope restoration. So far I have completed three dating from about c1840 to c1920 I buy these battered and falling apart and rebuild them. I have put this on hold so I can concentrate on my SOS Seagull Project. Photos below:-

Beautiful. Do you ever write on them? I mean, do you ever write letters upon them? I mean, do you ever use them as a desk? You know what I mean!

I have used them, but not recently. I gave one to a friend and she stores greeting cards in hers and uses it whenever she sends one a neat idea.

I suppose they’re no good for sending emails. I remember that my grandmother had one, but I have no idea what happened to it. I’m a big fan of Victorian literature and I like to imagine those characters writing their letters to each other on such things.
