Pavel Nikitin Oseberg #3 kit #61

Intermission is over, back in the shipyard prepping for the rigging.

The build plan:

On paper this build step looks simple enough. The eight straps that fasten into the hull are a bit tricky to get the right length. Pavel's rigging video (part 1) is a great aid.
He uses a jig to work on those straps. I cobbled together some bits and more or less (probably a lot less) and duplicated his jig.

The results

Not very fancy but a lot of help getting those bits done.

Really looking good Jan, nice!

Hey Jan,

Your Oseberg looks beautiful. Great work. Can I ask you a question? I got a Christmas present from my admiral. I was allowed to ask for the San Bartolomeo. I also ordered it from Pavel. Can I ask how long you had to wait for your Oseberg?

Best regards,

Günther

Not to speak for Jan, but we both got ours at the beginning of last year. I think I had to wait about 2 months, I believe Jan's wait was similar. There are so many factors in play, however, Günther, so I'm not sure our situation is relevant to yours. The 1:25 Oseberg was brand new when we ordered ours, so we had to wait for some kits to be assembled. We are also quite a bit farther away from Ukraine than you. Then, of course, there is the war, with daily power outages, material shortages and all the other unknowns that come with that. Your best bet is to stay in touch with Pavel and Denis - they are usually pretty good about communicating - as long as they have internet.

Hey Russ,

Thank you very much for your detailed reply. It helps me a lot. I have contacted Pavel. Unfortunately, it confirms exactly what you wrote. Pavel has a lot of problems with the electricity supply and the constant threat of rockets... It's just crazy and so incredibly sad to me that it had to come to this in this day and age...

Hey Jan,

Thank you very much for your reply. I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer... :D Thumbsup
Hi Günther, It took 3 months for me to receive my 1/25 Oseberg. I checked in with Denis a couple times and man were his explanations hair raising. Bombings, power outages lasting hours, not knowing if his suppliers were still intact. My hat is off to Denis and those folks at Pavel Nikitin.
