This discussion actually took place quite some time ago on the now-crashed MSW site.
The whole story behind this model being named *Pelican* is that it is impossible to build an exact replica of the *Golden Hind*. That is why the lesser-known name *Pelican* was chosen.

The rudder
The rudder is made up of 3 parts

I had absolutely no experience with brass at the time (actually, still don't like the material). So the hinges are made of polystyrene.


Given that the attachment is very fragile, the rudder is secured with copper pins.

drill holes and hammer the rudder into place.
