CA and PVA glues are very compatible. If you use a combination of both, the CA acts like a chemical clamp. No manual clamping is necessary. It's how I do all my planking. Only downside: CA sets up quick, so have the plank placed properly quickly!

The second type will work. The screw has knurled (screw-like) surface and you can screw to the 1st layer without worrying about the hole.

I have used that knurled screw/lever set but soon found out that the lever is made of very soft metal so that it will bend when tightened, and leaves ugly dark marks to planks. For this reason I replaced the levers with wooden ones made of 2,5 mm plywood which work much better.
