Any one else notice that when a product becomes less available,,,, the price sky rockets.....Well, I guess that's why we have bluebeard at model expo...We'll see.....Called capitalism?

I have to check. Is the Bluebeard a model that ME produces? I do know that ME manufactures in-houze their own Britannia metal and other parts from scratch. It is probably also based on bulk manufacturing just like anyone else.
That is probably why they can sell the USS Constitution at times at almost 40% off or maybe more because they will make a RUN of mass-producing the kit. THey will set up their CNC and metal shop to run enough to make about 200 to 300 Coneys.
But for them to tool up for about 4 or 5 Bluebeards probably takes away from regular production time and then they have to somehow recover that time - they have to run a business too just like anybody. So, I am sure they have all the dynamics down.
I would love to build the Sopwith Camel, but from time to time, they will make a production run or have EXTRA left in stock to get rid of. But, the timing of my having the $$$ and when they need to clear out their stock never seems to coincide. I guess this is just the nature of running a business of which I have no desire to do.
I hope that this maybe gives some insight. ME has a lot of employees that run that place. They also guarantee that if you have any parts that need replacing, they do that free of charge no questions asked - and that 'feature' is also probably accounted for in the price (not sure, but maybe). But it is good insurance to have.

I just did a search at Model Expo for Bluebeard and nothing comes up (??)

Ops. My bad. I thought it was a model. Zoltan is our membership resources expert.

What is your point, Ken?

Hey Donny, the new AL Sopwith is a much better option. I will up an unboxing & review if you like. Its my next build after the Alert. The Shipways( airways) get bad reviews. The Curtis is the only one that gets great reviews, but its much more expensive. See

It's called supply and demand.

A review would be great - I am pretty sure, that some members would like to build such a model...

I always assumed Americans understood market forces like supply and demand, being such an essential foundation of economy from the beginning. Fixed pricing (the opposite of free market capitalism) destroys product availability when too low, and reduces sales when high. Whatever you sell is only worth whatever someone is willing to pay. It's always best when the market sets the price naturally, and is not affected artificially by corruption or price manipulation. Similarly, the ZHL HMS Sovereign of the Seas carved wood decorations set was discontinued, and the price shot up dramatically. They were expensive at first, then became unaffordable on my budget. Someday, someone will fill the demand with a new set, though, if it is profitable to produce them. People bought the last few sets at high price because they valued them enough to be willing to buy them.
