Don't give up! Patience and time are your best friends. Take the same figure on a larger scale and practice more. However, take something much simpler like animals. Below are some ideas.

@Jimsky , thanks for the encouragement, I still have the tools for later attempts, so the wood carving project is put on hold until a later date.

The pattern is scanned from working drawings, the problem is that the figure head is only shown from one side.
@Dave Stevens (Lumberyard) , has given me permission to use photos he has posted here on SOS of the work of Harold Hahn.
With this starting point, I have an opportunity to make an attempt.
