Requesting a small Prayer - if you feel so inclined to do so

Now, I have a problem with my right arm and right hand. When I sit down at PC and reach for the mouse, my right hand goes numb. I am just asking for those that are so inclined to do so, if you do not mind saying a small prayer for my healing. At this point, I do not know if I should go to a Physical Therapist or a Chiropractor, or a basic Medical Doc. At any rate, just say one for me if you all do not mind.

I also had back surgery on a procedure called "Intercept Procedure" where a doctor (surgeon) will use an X-Ray guided machine in order to use a Lazer to help burn some nerves inside two vertebrae. The condition is called Vertebragenic pain. The pain is in very lower back when I sit for about 30 minutes. So, I hope that his surgery helps.

Actually, this pain in arm and numbness in hand is what is driving me nuts right now.

I would go to the best sports doc or at least ortho doc in your area if you choose the doctor path. Sounds like it may be carpal tunnel. My issue is arthritis in my thumb and this week is a PRP shot. My doc's patients for this procedure include Ringo Starr, Jon Bon Jovi, most of the Eagles, and a ton of sports figures. Seems drummers and guitarists suffer from the same malady. I am hoping their endorsements are an indication of his abilities. :) Good luck no matter the route you take and know you have my best wishes that everything goes perfectly for you.

I echo Allan’s advice. First get some good medical advice. If you have a primary care doctor start there. These people have the training to look at the overall picture. It could be an orthopedic problem or one with your nerves or something else. Your primary care Dr should be able to know what the problem could be and to then make the necessary referrals to specialists. Seeing your primary care doctor first avoids the problem “that when you’re a hammer everything looks like a nail.

I have a lot of experience with nerve pain. Start with your primary care physician. In my right arm the hand and arm pain is from the radial ulnar nerve. Have the lower back pain as well, can only work at the bench for a few hours at a time. Lookup YouTube videos by Dr Rowe a chiropractor for stretch videos.

If your location is like me mine, it takes months to see someone. So for me, it was use it, or lose it: stretching, the back and core exercises, walking. Working on your overall health and fitness level, can’t hurt.

Finally this can go quickly, slowly, or never go away. Accepting that was tough for me. Hope my experiences help.

You should see a neurologist. I have roughly the same symptoms in both arms. Unfortunately, in my case, the cause is a herniated disc in my neck. But according to the neurologist, this is usually caused by a nerve that’s pinched in the elbow. It’s easy to fix. It’s similar to carpal tunnel syndrome.
 
I think you have received some sound advice here, Donnie. In the mean time you know my heart and that I will be praying for you. God can heal you many ways, including through the medical profession.
 
thank you all dearly for all the great responses. I do not think it is my neck. My neck is completely straight and forward as I type this - now, as I type my right thumb and index finger going numb again - drats !!!!

I will follow and look into all these advises and see what to do.
 
Donnie I will be praying for you. You symptoms sound like carpel tunnel. It is usually worse in the morning and can wake you up at night. The pain and numbness is usually confined to the hand and usually involves the thumb index and middle fingers. If this sounds similar to what you have I would see your primary care physician who can recommend a hand surgeon. Steroid injections can provide some relief along with non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs.

How ever the most important thing is to see someone to get a definitive diagnosis.

Donnie, you’ve certainly been through a lot, my friend. I’m very sorry you’re dealing with this pain and now the numbness in your right arm and hand on top of everything else. I know how frustrating and worrying that can be.

You can definitely count on my prayers. I’ll be asking Jehovah to give you strength, comfort, and relief from the pain, and to guide the doctors as they figure out what is causing the problem and how best to treat it.

I truly hope the Intercept procedure gives you the relief you’ve been hoping for with your lower back. And as for your arm and hand, I hope you can get the right medical attention soon and find an answer to what’s causing the numbness.

Keep your faith and hang in there, my friend. Sometimes the road to feeling better takes a little longer than we would like, but you’re not walking that road alone. We’re thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers. ❤️
 
Donnie,

Lay your forearm on your desk and place your hand on your mouse. Is the back of your hand on a straight line with the top of forearm or is does it angle up?
Kipe an old thick terrycloth hand towel. Fold it into 6 or 8 layers. Place it under your forearm such that your hand hangs out in space.
Place your mouse in your hand. The back of your hand should be in a straight line with the top of your forearm.

If you hinge your hand in a bend back angle to hold your mouse, the nerves running thru the small bones in the palm area can get irritated and abraded at the angle going up.. Your hand wants to be bent down while it works.

Your nerve(s) is already unhappy. It needs to fix itself. An immediate cure is unlikely, but stopping the stress should keep the irritation from getting worse. An even higher platform for the forearm may worth a try until the nerve repairs - but a week or so of no mouse is probably better.
 
Reminds me of Shepard’s Prayer: supposedly mission control or someone asked Alan Shepard if he said a prayer before he launched. His replied yes. They asked him what it was. His reply supposedly was “Please Lord, don’t let me fuck up”. I understand that it’s become known as “Shepherd’s Prayer” and that many pilots say it. I only know that every time I stepped into the OR to do a case I said the same prayer
 
A prayer for you will be included! Just had my right shoulder replaced on 8/27-full reversal, so far so good! Spent the last 15 months remodeling the main floor of our home (less the bathrooms, they'll have to wait).
Ain't it great getting older!!

I had Spinal Stenosis where the channel narrows for the spinal cord and the vertibrae can also slip forward when looking down. Then compresses the nerve and can create numbness and or pain. Before my spinal surgery to fuse c3-c7 with spacers and stabilizers, my entire left side of my body from the clavical to the hand would go numb. SInce the surgery I've not had that issue and the recovery is over after about 3 months in an infuriating collar. I'm glad I did it. Thoughts and prayers with you,as I have enjoyed getting insight and valuable instruction from your builds.
