that what I was trying to envision. As I said I'm still oddly attached to my " folk art model " and although it maybe a waste of time, it's my time to waste.
No one is dumping on him. He stated he was looking to gain experience in modeling. No one is saying he can't start with the lawn ornament. We are just offering options here. There are no snobs here.
It has a great look, color, patina and charm all its own. It is what it is: folk art. If you can sort out all the original design and intent, do that. What it doesn't need is design improvement, only conservation and preservation.
There are plenty of great starters out there for a reasonable investment of time and money. Model Shipways is where I would (and did) begin my Odessey of more than 60 years of ship model building! I'm Still not the greatest or likely to be, but satisfied, happy and creatively fulfilled. Can't ask for better than that!

Years ago, a friend of mine was going to consign a "practice" chain saw carving of a bear cub to the bonfire. The carver indeed needed a lot more practice, but I took it home anyway, dunked it in a bath of polyurethane and set it out front of my mountain home. When asked about it I referred to it as my rescue bear. Might I suggest that you refer to your boat (Which looks kinda like a Junk,) as your rescue boat, or junk. But say it with pride, cuz it's yours.
