I have read many posts over the years about how to do or make things regarding ship models and even getting Direct Messages (DM's) on the matter. I have done hundreds of research on Google, Facebook, and YouTube, and I am sure there are more internet outlets left to discover.

First, a disclaimer: Ships of Scale will always be willing to help anyone with their ship or model. That is what we are here for. However, I think that some might need a little encouragement from the internet to do a little research on their own. This doesn't hurt anyone, and it will open up more of how to do things. The purpose of this thread is not to offend anyone here, but to educate.

It doesn't matter what browser you are using (Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, Opera, Brave). The main thing is that in the address bar, just type in www.google.com, www.facebook.com, and or www.youtube.com

I don't even think you have to have an account with any of these. They are just going to return what you are searching for.

Here is a screen shot of Google. Below the graphic is where you put your search. You can type in a whole sentence like this:

"Rigging a square rigged tall ship" or "how do I make my own ship rigging blocks" and hit return, and Google will display many links. You can do the same for Facebook and ESPECIALLY YouTube.

Now, I am going to say something here that really frustrates me when I make this suggestion. I get responses from people about being afraid of Google, Facebook and Youtube because of "Data Mining" and even conspiracies about the Government and other enterprises spying on you. Folks, this is NOTHING to worry about. Actually, it is all nonsense. I have been using these outlets for over 25 years or more with no problems. Now, if you search YouTube or Facebook, yes, they probably have an "algorithm" that tracks what you search for, but in my case, IT IS A GOOD thing, as I am scrolling through YouTube or Facebook, it will automatically make suggestions based on my recent search history.

If you are worried about search history, then you are probably searching for things you shouldn't be searching for in the first place. And besides, there are tools and settings in Facebook that you can delete your search history anyway.

I have a personal friend or two that would not dare do any research like this - well, as far as I am concerned, they are cutting themselves short and not taking advantage of the internet.

If you are really worried about being tracked then use www.duckduckgo.com it has a built-in "engine" that keeps you from being tracked.

Also, a lot of people that do get search results from Google do not know that you can click on the upper bar for "images", "Videos" etc. When you click on the "images", it will return nothing but images of what you are looking for. Look at the top title bar and you will see "ALL, Images, Videos, News, and more. As soon as you get the search return then click on like "Images" or "Videos". Clicking on "Videos" will most likely send you to YouTube to watch a video. Note the little duck ICON. That is because I used duckduckgo.com for the search engine.
