Hello Guys,

in my ship yard's "dust collecting corner" is standing

the old Revell's kit of Peter Pan. Here the kit's history:

This kit was one of my very first kits I can really had had built in my childhood (as the Airfix' BLACK WIDOW and Heller' SOLAY ROYAL).

I did start with the intention to build her as an update to a bit more of baroque detail and more historical correctness - a balancing act. So I voted for the "over baroquing" of the kit towards a Dutch Man O'War. Project name is "DE ROODE BUL" ("The Red Bull") but this is not absolutly decided.

So I bought this book to find some more ideas to work on and to "cartoon" the Dutch art of ship's decoration.

So let us blow away the dust from the kit and look on the state of the art ;)

WALES AND FENDERS

The wales and fenders were added from Evergreen square bars.

Sometimes thinks really do work!

BREAKHEAD BULKHEAD

The breakhead bulkhead was build in the matter I found on

IMG-20190902-WA0011.jpeg
old Eastprussian "journey barges".

And was able to figure out a cut through
in a drawing of Werner Jäger in his monography: DER REISEKAHN MARIA

IMG-20190902-WA0010.jpeg
Where you can see that the cut offs were used on the "night houses" sides as walls.

IMG-20190826-WA0007.jpeg
Here my start on the stairways sides.

IMG-20190826-WA0011.jpeg
My"interpretation" of th clinker wood structure.

IMG-20190903-WA0000.jpeg
After adding primer I was quite satisfied with the result I had got and added a baroque surplus.

IMG-20190827-WA0028.jpeg
It looks fine but doesn't

IMG-20190827-WA0038.jpeg
fit to the kits shape

IMG-20190827-WA0036.jpeg
so I had two Great Canyons side by side.

THE TRANSOM

A very sophisticated pice of Dutch baroque ship's decor is the elaborated transom:

This is the recent status of my project:

IMG-20190904-WA0007.jpeg
The Transom is readyfor the cloudy sky in the background and the "shelf" for the cow is in place. The gunports will be opend later on.

IMG-20190904-WA0002.jpeg
I voted for very light colour as my basis to imitate the wooden look. As I try to get some warm nice looking as clase as possible to the "real wood" as I am used

IMG-20190904-WA0003.jpeg
to work with inks to get the pladzic to look a bit more like wood. A basic colour in some kind of brown very fast starts to turn into a "mocca brown" you are not able to find distinguished details for you eye to catch.

IMG-20190904-WA0010.jpeg
So I try to vgive the viewer's eye details to rest on - as on the transom's inside I will add a typical baroque painting in this circle.

IMG-20190903-WA0018.jpeg
This is the hull as it appeared before "inking" in a "Iraghy light sand" by Vellayo.

From time to time I will do some work on her as a clownish fun project between the serious historical model ship building.

Certainly Knut it is the long road to go...

:)
Wood is patient by nature
Plastic is more patient

Here my pearl's additives...

the inner bulkhead in clinker optic.

IMG-20190902-WA0020.jpeg
These pearls are from a girl's necklage kit.

IMG-20190902-WA0006.jpeg
And from a cheap necklage I was able to bring a carvings to the side gallerys.

IMG-20190902-WA0016.jpeg
So I am able reboot this project - this is only the start of the decoration. There will be some more detailling in the next weeks.

Thanks for the likes - I the moment I do rework the shipyard and the flat. The 25.000books are all stored in shelfs in the livingroom but not in any order that would make sence.
IMG_20062020_134324_(800_x_450_pixel).jpg

My collections of Chapelle, Underhill, McGregor and Endsor moved into the living room also the Ancre monographies and books from AoS due to the dangerous dust of the bandsaw. The plan copies are all rolled (without SAINT PHILIPPE 1693 and AGATE 1853). The new bookshelf cuts the livingroom into two - so I don't have relfe tions on my monitor any longer.

IMG_20062020_134245_(800_x_450_pixel).jpg

So there is little to no progress at all projects - as many projects are locked down to saw- and airbrush dustproofness.

A comrade from a German forum said I wouldn't build ships in my flat - instead I would live on my ship yard...

Keep calm
and
build model ships!
