rigging

With your model being a snow, I am interested to see what is recommended as well. Everyone has favorites. My personal go-to books are James Lees' The Masting and Rigging English Ships of War 1625-1860 and David Steel's book The Elements of Rigging and Seamanship. Steel's 1794 three hundred page work is a free download. These two are far more comprehensive than any others that I have used including Petersson and Zu Mondfeld works, but you may be better off researching for contemporary plans and rigging warrants to see if any apply specifically to a snow.

am trying to understand the rigging of the ontario , the info from the kit is not were help full colore code line would have been a good way to make the process esay. just tring to rig it so that it look ok . it sure will not be my best build. will look for a snow book for sure.

Without investing any money maybe download the David Steel work and use his information for rigging. There is a drawing of a snow although it is not very clearly done. What it does not have that I have found are rope circumferences, but these are all given in Lees' book. I have no idea if the following would be any help but maybe worth a try.
  • The Book of Old Ships (Culver and Grant): Covers the development of various sailing rigs, often detailing the specifics of vessels like snows, brigantines, and sloops in the 18th century.
