It has been about 2 months since I began this project. Having only Chinese instructions, I sought out help to obtain an English version. I have built 14 models to date and have been able to handle Italian, Spanish and German instructions, but Chinese is "Chinese to me". I appreciate the help given by Uwek add Johnny-BA and have had extended conversation (e-mail) with Max Zeng). I forged ahead w/o the English and made a major mistake that that revealed itself as the build progressed. I eventually had to deconstruct and rebuild the gun deck.
After about a half dozen conversations with Max (including sending him order and shipping invoices), I received his January 3, 2023 e-mail that stated "I ..... am just the distributor and not the manufacturer". He went on to say that "we are the only shop can provide English version instrustion. For those products from other shops we are not obliged to provide any instruction." Since I had innocently purchased the kit on ebay, he apparently was not disposed to help me in any way unless I purchased the pear wood carvings upgrade (price never discussed).
I acknowleged to Max my heartfelt thanks for all his assistance and will continue to plod ahead using the Chinese version and th 1:30 instruction set I received from others. The moral of this story is to simply be aware of where you buy your models and supplies. I know that I will not be buying my supplies from anyone but the original manufacturers or brick and morter hobby shops (Oh--there are none!, as least in my area), and it will be a cold day in hell before I would buy anything from Max Zeng. Most modelers are very willing to help if they have the means and/or ability to do so. A very Happy New Year to all!! Paul D Hall
