It has been about 2 months since I began this project. Having only Chinese instructions, I sought out help to obtain an English version. I have built 14 models to date and have been able to handle Italian, Spanish and German instructions, but Chinese is "Chinese to me". I appreciate the help given by Uwek add Johnny-BA and have had extended conversation (e-mail) with Max Zeng). I forged ahead w/o the English and made a major mistake that that revealed itself as the build progressed. I eventually had to deconstruct and rebuild the gun deck.

After about a half dozen conversations with Max (including sending him order and shipping invoices), I received his January 3, 2023 e-mail that stated "I ..... am just the distributor and not the manufacturer". He went on to say that "we are the only shop can provide English version instrustion. For those products from other shops we are not obliged to provide any instruction." Since I had innocently purchased the kit on ebay, he apparently was not disposed to help me in any way unless I purchased the pear wood carvings upgrade (price never discussed).

I acknowleged to Max my heartfelt thanks for all his assistance and will continue to plod ahead using the Chinese version and th 1:30 instruction set I received from others. The moral of this story is to simply be aware of where you buy your models and supplies. I know that I will not be buying my supplies from anyone but the original manufacturers or brick and morter hobby shops (Oh--there are none!, as least in my area), and it will be a cold day in hell before I would buy anything from Max Zeng. Most modelers are very willing to help if they have the means and/or ability to do so. A very Happy New Year to all!! Paul D Hall

Paul,
there are multiple build logs on this forum for Royal Caroline by ZHL. I suggest you use the search button and follow how others have built the kit.

Good luck with it, its a beautiful looking model. :)

Did you try Google translator ? This may help. of course for this you need an electronic version of Chinese instructions where Chinese can be copied and pasted into translator.

G'day Paul, did you buy the kit from Max, if not it is a big ask for him to provide you with the English instructions, imagine if you were in business and folks were buying kits from other suppliers but they were asking you to provide the English Instructions, what would you think, he is probably spending most of his time organizing and expanding his Company, I know a friend of mine wrote the English Instructions for him along with the diagrams Max provided for the 1/30 scale kit, and he rewarded my friend ( I wont go into those details ) and I believe that this 1/48 scale RC kit is a kit supplied by another company that a lot of other companies sell including Max, so there is more to this than meets the eye.

Best regards john,

In addition to Google Translate on a PC, there is Google Translate for Android phones. While my ZHL kit of the Bonhomme Richard cross section did include many English instructions, not everything was translated, and I used this app to translate the rest. Oftentimes important notes on the plans. Came in very handy.

If you use the Google translate app, you can also scan the text and translate it. In the translate app, use the camera icon, aim at the printed text, click the button to take a picture & the text will be translated.
