Sail-making

I also know there are several you tube videos on using silkspan by Tom Lauria.
Tom Lauria made great videos on silkspan sails. There are small differences between his methods and David Antscherl's and I have found an in between that suits me. Anyone can go with what each teaches or find something that suits them yet achieves a fine result.

It can be difficult to make and insert 10,000 treenails in a hull without wanting viewers to notice them. :)
So true. I have yet to use any treenails on my projects (except on my 1/20 scale gun model decks). I've made some small samples, and have trouble seeing them after they're installed (and therefore have trouble putting thousands of them in a model). Yet many great builders here and elsewhere (Olha) seem to create that balance where they llok great and seem to belong. I'm still not sure if I'm admiring the workmanship or the accuracy.

Well said gentlemen. I can see the various points of view, from striving for absolute historical accuracy to using artistic license to satisfy one’s esthetic desires. Both approaches satisfy the builder’s wishes. I personally enjoy learning various techniques and approaches in order to improve and increase my skills. I thank you all for the excellent information and advice you provide :)
