Securing the masts.

Rigging the shrouds will prevent you from removing the masts.
I guess I don't follow..IMHO de-masting would dictate disconnecting all standing rigging, including the shrouds,at its connection point to the ship. Disconnecting the lanyards would be one solution, but I would be more inclined to remove the chain plates where they meet the hull and leave the rigging intact.We live overseas, and this would be in the unlikely, but not impossible event we would return to the states.
