Soleil Royal - ZHL 1/90 Scale by Paulb [COMPLETED BUILD]

Maybe you should consider also the blocks by @Dry-Dock Models & Parts
In my opinion even better quality

Hi Uwe
I also considered Dry Dock but delivery time to Europe looks to be very long (they mention up to 33 days using standard shipment).
So this is the reason I looked at HIS
Did you experience a speedy delivery to Austria? How much time?
Thanks

My parcel came after one week or 10 days - something like this

My sincere thanks to all who have been following my build, and for your comments and suggestions. Belonging to this forum has been inspiring for me and has definitely helped me move ahead in my build.

The gunport covers are now all installed. I had some concerns about how accurately I would be able to attach them, but it turns out the using a hole gauge that I made worked like a charm. Overall this has been a pleasant build. It was certainly attractive price-wise, but the metal castings are not up to todays standards of 3D modeling which makes the whole stern section seem clunky. I plan on displaying the ship so it will be viewed from the port side towards the bow. It is really exciting to be near the end and see everything taking on its final form; when finished I think I will be very pleased with the outcome. That said it's been a long 18 months and I'm really ready to move on to another project.

beautiful result Paul

The SL is now mounted on my display base, I still have to epoxy the 4 atlas' to steady things. After that I still need to finish the rudder & attach it. The end is near!!

Did you leave some of the ornamentation off the port and starboard sides of the stern galleries.? The upper "bump" section.? I'm getting ready to lay the parts out but haven't gotten that far. (although, according to the inventory, I have everything) thank you

Yes - as I recall there were two circular items (#24) that I inventoried, but later couldn't find. That is probably what you are referring to.

You have built a beautiful model Paul. The gunport lids are very accurately done and the natural wood colors make for a very pleasing result. The stern may look "heavy", but it is impressive nevertheless. Have you given any thought as to what your next project will be?

My wife really wants to clean and reorganize my work area lol. That should be fun. I will supervise of course.
